High notes for the 2011-2012 year

The SADC Côte-Nord’s Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Hôtel Gouverneur. Almost 30 people were in attendance for the presentation of the annual report and the financial statements. A review of the SADC’s activities for the 2011-2012 year showed results that were more than satisfactory. In 2011-2012, the SADC provided financial support to nearly three times more business projects—17 initiatives—than in 2010-2011, representing a total investment of more than $730 000 for business start-ups, expansions and acquisitions. Moreover, business successions (acquisitions) accounted for almost 60% of our investments, a sign that the new generation of entrepreneurs are increasingly active in our region. The SADC primarily funded projects in the areas of retail and wholesale. The SADC Côte-Nord supported about 20 local development initiatives in the three RCMs on its territory, that is, Sept-Rivières, Minganie and the Lower North Shore.  More than $30 000 were allocated to non-for-profit organizations involved in tourism, the bio-food industry, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, among other sectors. The SADC also participated in several committees and organized the Sept-Rivières stakeholders’ dinner as well as dinner meetings in Minganie and the Lower North Shore. Hosted by Jean-Pierre Castilloux, President of the SADC’s Board of Directors, the evening was a complete success. To draw attention to the SADC’s new colours, a small white wine and melon liqueur cocktail was handed out to everyone who attended.
