In November 2012, Jeanne d’Arc Vollant and two other Innu women launched their first book of haikus. A haiku is a short form of Japanese poetry (on three lines) that must include emotions, feelings and a highly evocative allusion to a specific moment in time. The haikus in “S’agripper aux fleurs” draw a portrait of aboriginal life. The energetic and smiling Jeanne d’Arc Vollant has been a member of the SADC Côte-Nord Board of Directors for the past few years and is also an administrative officer for the Société de développement économique de Uashat mak Mani-Utenam. Jeanne d’Arc Vollant co-wrote this book with Louve Mathieu and Louise Kanapé. Congratulations, Jeanne d’Arc!
